If you’re a fashion insider, you probably caught the tail end of the Met Gala on May 2. Usually the first Monday in May (there’s a whole movie dedicated to it,) the Met Gala snuck up on a lot of us this year. Honestly, I had almost completely forgotten about it until we were waist-deep in red carpet appearances.
Half of this was due to the fact we had just had another Met Gala event back in September. Pushing back the event due to COVID, I was very surprised that they even did a September event instead of forgoing the event entirely. In the other half, I attest to poor planning and marketing. This year, the theme was “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion” which paired with the exhibit that launched in September. As you can imagine, it didn’t stir the buzz and conversation as much as its predecessors. The second installment is entitled “In America: An Anthology of Fashion,” and it was a very interesting theme to explore on the red carpet.
