Be Careful What You Wish For + Thanking God Through The Rain (Post SxSW Thoughts)

Ever since I can remember, I have loved the saying “be careful what you wish for.” As someone who always loved the mystical and the strange, it appeared as if somehow, the words you said could magically manifest themselves into fruition. Therefore, if one wasn’t careful enough, they really could manifest whatever it is they “wished” for.

I was thinking these deep philosophical thoughts at like, 6-years-old. Boy, if only I had known just how real those thoughts were.

You have the power to manifest a lot of things in your life. The world says “be careful what you wish for,” the Bible says “the power of life and death is in the tongue.” No matter the circumstance, what you say has power, both positive and negative. This post, however, is going to focus on what happens AFTER you get what you’ve been asking for.

For so long, I had been putting it out in the universe that I wanted to do more speaking events, I wanted to grow, I wanted to do bigger and better. And sure enough, it’s happening. Don’t ya’ll know I caught myself in the middle of a panic attack the other day wondering how everything was going to get situated out? Then I had to stop and think. Isn’t the same God that got you this far still rollin’ with you? Isn’t it HE who decides what you can and can’t take on? And if he gave it to you, do you really think he’d leave you out to dry alone?IMG_1608

My dear misfits, allow me to let you in on a little secret. If you put it out there, it’ll come back to you. Don’t ask for something and then run when it plops down in your lap. And yes, I know the idea of fear and failure can resonate, especially when you’ve been given or tasked with something that’s pretty big. However, have faith in yourself and faith in what God or the universe is teaching you in that moment. I thank God he didn’t give me a lot of the things I wanted when I wanted them. At the time, I thought I was mature enough to handle them, but even now, I can look back and see that I would have easily failed. Now, I see where God’s giving me many of the things I wished for…and now’s the time to step up to bat. Either get in the game or hop out.

No matter what, I’ve had to learn how to trust God through the good and bad. I thank him for the storms that come, because rain is a good thing. Rain is a good thing. I always look at life as a test, and in various parts of your life, God is testing your faithfulness and seeing if you are going to stay true to him and true to yourself. I know waaaaaaay too many people who are feeling cocky with the gifts God’s blessed them with…and honey, he that giveth can easily taketh away. *sips tea*

But when you ask for something, be careful what you wish for…because you may just get it.

What about you? What have you been asking for? Are you ready?
