Happy 45th birthday, Tracee Ellis Ross! Who can you think of whose more stylish, more graceful, and our definite vote of ‘Aunty in Our Head’? She’s shown us since Girlfriends days what it means to be a great girlfriend, to step into your own career and build a platform outside the shadow of your family, to enjoy all the fruits of your labor, being single and glamorous, and what it means to really enjoy freedom and fabulousness. Undeniably, she’s shown us that living your best, most fabulous life isn’t just for the 20-year-olds!
However, the best thing about Tracee Ellis Ross is how she simply exudes #BlackGirlMagic in her outfits. As someone who didn’t really start playing with “let me know a little more skin,” until about 3 months ago, I have always loved to see women who can pull off a look that’s slightly unconventional yet nonetheless, beautiful. It gives a confidence to girls everywhere that no matter who you are, you can rock your outfits out and be fabulous while doing so!
I love that TER also has such a refined style that’s all her own. She can rock a Chanel gown with cornrows one day, or switch it up and rock her big, afrolicious curls, with an outfit that’s totally unexpected for a red-carpet event. She’s also shown us that showing some skin is great (a little leg here, a plunging neckline here), but that if you want to be fully covered, you can still make it look sexy. She goes to show that fashion is cool, but true style is how you make it pop.
