If you didn’t know, I am a boots type of girl.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve always loved boots. I just love how they look on my legs, how my feet look in them…I could go on and on. Now, if you also didn’t know, I have large feet. So for me, boots actually even out my bottom half with my legs and the rest of my body. I know it doesn’t make a lot of sense, but I promise it does!
Anyways, I love upgrading my wardrobe every year with another good pair of boots. Living in New York, I always look for boots that are sturdy, heavy (a bit) and made well. In the case of snow, it’s always good to have a boot that won’t give out on you and have you slipping and sliding in these streets! Additionally, it’s so important to find a comfortable insole, especially if you plan to wear boots that have a heel on them.
Towards the end of 2021, I finally got my hands on the Bottega Veneta boots that were literally EVERYWHERE. As soon as I saw these boots, I knew I wanted them. They’re my style and a silhouette I would wear a lot, and the pop of color at the sole really sold me (Bottega Veneta green everywhere). The only thing was I wasn’t necessarily ready to commit to the purchase just yet, especially as hype from influencers catapulted this shoe into EVERY Youtube video, TikTok video and IG Reel. So I told myself I would wait…
Y’all, I almost (metaphorically) shot myself in the foot doing that.
It was the end of the year, and Daniel Lee announces he’s leaving Bottega. I think it caused everyone to just run to their local stores and buy up all the shoes.
Here’s a pro tip: If a popular creative director leaves a fashion house, get what you can before it’s too late.
For the longest time, I could not find these shoes ANYWHERE. I couldn’t buy them online, nor could I even go into the store to shop for them in my size. I felt so sad and upset, mostly because I had waited to buy them only for the entire world to shop them up. And then, a miracle happened. The new Bottega Veneta store opened in Soho and they had one pair in my size. I called the store, got the SA’s phone number, and immediately booked my appointment. The experience was phenomenal and I finally had my dream boot!
Thoughts on the Bottega Veneta boots:
So you guys will be seeing this shoe a LOT in my photos because I absolutely believe in wearing my things. Well, most of my things. Some things are art and I don’t wear them out of fear I’ll mess them up. But these boots were made for stomping, and that’s what they’ll do!
Now, I will add a level of caution for anyone out there who is interested in getting the Bottega Veneta boots that it is extremely heavy. This may make them hard for walking for long periods of time, but if you’re traveling in and out of cars and not on your feet so much, it works.
UPDATE: I want to also add that these shoes take some getting used to. I have a lot of heavy boots in my wardrobe, but these bad boys are definitely weapons. That’s not a problem, but you have to get used to it on your feet. Also, it’s probably best to wear it a few times with socks. This will help break in the shoe without it wreaking havoc on your feet. I learned this the hard way — however, it’s still a shoe that’s worth it, in my opinion.
There are a lot of places offering dupes to these Bottega Veneta boots, so I will say if you don’t have the $1,200+ to drop (or you just don’t want to), happily buy a dupe. I plan to buy a dupe pair in a different color because I’m all about cost-effectiveness over here!
What are your thoughts? Are you team Bottega?
