Lane Bryant constantly seeks to amaze us with the designer collaborations. Much like H&M’s designer works, we anxiously wait to see who Lane Bryant, the brand that unapologetically offers larger sizes to accommodate more women’s shapes, will partner with. We saw their work with Christian Siriano (among which Danielle Brooks and Ashley Graham led the way), and even up to two years ago, saw the runway show of Isabel Toledo. Now, the brand has started the works for a new collection with none other than Prabal Gurung. Gurung has often referred to himself as “size blind”, designing pieces to up a size 22 to guarantee inclusiveness for all women to wear his clothes.
Through a series of webisodes that will document the entire process of the collection, you’ll get a chance to see all aspects of the offering before it hits stores in March 2017.
As per usual, we see that the fashion market does itself more harm than good by keeping out certain women and sizes from their aspect of fashion. The people sitting in the marginalized sectors of fashion is where the money is, and soon, this collection will show just how powerful that money can be.
As a woman who is a two-digit size, I welcome this collaboration and the message it’s sending! What do you guys think? Will you check out the collection?
