Leave it to FLOTUS to always make a statement, even when she’s not necessarily in the market searching for one. On Tuesday night, President Barack Obama along with First Lady Michelle Obama welcomed guests to their FINAL State Dinner (cue the tears), including Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi and his wife Mrs. Agnese Landini. While we all wooshed over the President’s spiffy threads, it was Michelle who stole the show. For the night, she rocked a custom made, rose gold Atelier Versace gown.
Of course, what words are left to say? In a statement, designer Donatella Versace writes that she is “humbled and honored to have the opportunity to dress the First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama,” adding, “Thank you Michelle for all of the things you have done for America and for the rest of the world, for the women in the United States and the rest of the world.” We can’t agree more!
Of course, we will miss this enviable first couple upon their departure from office, however I think Michelle Obama leaves a lasting legacy for many of us. She has taught us that women do not have to choose: one can have success in their career, homes, marriages, as a mother and wife, and still encompass a feeling of sexiness and beauty for others to behold. THAT is a legacy we should all strive to have.
