Earlier last week, I had the chance to check out some of the newest additions to the Olay line, which included three new clay masks, a brightening eye cream, two facial mists, and two new moisturizers. While some could say that’s not a lot for a “launch”, when you think of a brand like Olay that focuses more on longevity rather than on new products, it makes sense. I know Olay isn’t really a brand that the 20-somethings stay running towards, but it’s a line that has stood the test of time, and that honestly should say something. I said, “Why not try some of the new products and see what they have to offer?”
Needless to say, I was shocked.
I found the mists (which shoot in concentrated sprays instead of everywhere like most mists) to be super refreshing and they immediately brought my face back to life. I loved that they were scented, but not overly fragrant. With ingredients like chamomile extract, aloe, vitamin C and bergamot, they are definitely a staple product I could see myself bringing with me everywhere. Oh, and the bottles are plastic, so it’s possible to do an easy throw in and out of the purse, going through security at the airport, or just…disposing of the bottle once you’re finished.
Then came the moisturizers. I was skeptical of them at first, but instantly gravitated towards them when I realized just how smooth they felt to the touch and on my face. The consistency felt like a silicone primer, which is great for filling in your pores and helping give your face a smooth foundation before makeup application. I actually am a reformed moisturizer lover with this, though I do want to note that I don’t wear this on its one. I need a bit of an extra boost of hydration, so I paired it with a jojoba oil mixture or even a serum. Honestly, huge fan.
The line also featured three clay sticks, which operate almost like a deodorant stick for a face mask. Genius! I was super thrown off at first, but the more I thought of it, the more I realized smart and practical this was. No more mess, runny hands and fingers, or that awkward cracking you experience on your face. These masks are formulated so that no matter how much they dry down, they don’t crack or break down on the skin. Also, they smell delicious and I’m here for every part of it.
The eye cream has small light-reflecting particles in it that help brighten and lighten the undereye. While there’s no sure-fire way to cure dark marks (other than just concealing, honestly) you can use something that does a bit of lightening under the eyes.
Soooooo, I’m sold on the entire line, especially this new moisturizer right in time for fall. I have to say, I was skeptical, but I’m really happy I dived in and gave it a try. None of the products messed with my face, irritated my skin, or made me feel like, “Hmmmm, I should really try something else.” That’s always a great sign. I urge everyone to try things out at least once, and maneuver however you see fit.
So have any of you tried the line? What are your thoughts? Also, are y’all diggin’ the original photography? Let me know!
