Hey y’all, we’ve got a new episode on the podcast this week: The pros and cons of entrepreneurship!
First, I shared on social media last week that I was having some health conditions, and y’all showed up and showed out. People reached out or checked in on me, and even though I haven’t had a chance to respond to everybody yet, I really do genuinely believe that where two or three are gathered in God’s name, he is there also. I’m thankful for all the prayers and everything — I am home, I am on bed rest, but I’m feeling better, tremendously better.
So the pros and cons of entrepreneurship.
For those of you who don’t know, I do have a nine to five, but I also focus on TBM pretty much full time if you take 40 hours and consider that a full-time employee. I am therefore a full-time employee to two jobs. And TheBlondeMisfit actually requires so much more than my nine to five because I am literally everybody.
I am a graphic designer. I am my social media editor. I am my video producer. Sir, I am the writer, I am the podcast sound engineer, I’m all these things child. I am a multifaceted girl. But there are definitely some pros and cons to being an entrepreneur and having done this now, for more or less five years with the site, there are some things that I’ve learned and that I want to talk to you guys about because I really think that entrepreneurship is super glorified.
Even as of a couple of months ago, everybody was on their high horse, saying if you work for the man, blah blah blah. Y’all know there were all these Twitter debates about people who were trying to bash nine to fivers. Now, it’s kind of crazy because I’m so thankful for that nine to five because I still have health insurance. I still have a guaranteed paycheck for two weeks. There are so many pros and cons of entrepreneurship people don’t think about until their waist-deep in the problem, so this episode should help.
One thing I will say is that I would not trade this journey for anything. Every single day when I wake up and I create the content, I share it with you all. You guys are empowered, and you feel valued, and you feel seen. Many of you say, “I’m so happy that I listened to this episode, or I’m so happy I read that piece. I feel like I can go out there and I can get it on my own.”
That’s what makes all this worth it. The money is cool. The accolades are dope. The recognition is amazing, but nothing ever beats the impact that you can have on other people. So, as I said in my other episodes, always remember your why, and everything else will follow suit.
Be sure to share it with your friends, family, and other entrepreneurs! As always, love you guys and be sure to stay up on all things on the site as well as our social media channels.
