Even though we are halfway through the summer, it does not mean that we don’t still have opportunities to look extremely cute. Whether it’s going out to brunch with your best friends, date night with the hubby, or even just a day out running errands, there are many options that you can wear when you are trying to get dressed quickly so that you can jet out the door. One wardrobe staple that everyone talks about is white clothing, and specifically, white dresses. White dresses are literally one of the best-kept secrets. Well, if you want to consider it the secret.
The reason why is because the color white looks amazing on all skin tones, and you have different variations of white and different variations in white dresses. Seriously, there are so many options when it comes to white dresses. One of my favorites is body con off-the-shoulder dresses, but you also have white lace dresses, white body con dresses, and the list goes on and on.
I’m not really sure what it is about white. Still, there’s just something about a white elegant dress that instantly makes you feel luxe and boujee all in the same breath. Plus, white dresses can easily be dressed up or down depending on the accessories and shoes you wear. For instance, you can elevate your look if you pair it with some beautiful heels, whether it’s open-toed sandals or metallic finish, or maybe even something that laces up the leg. You can also pair it with bold accessories and colors, or if you want to go a much more simple but elevated route, you can pair any of your fancy white dresses with all-white accessories.
Now, it may be a little hard because I am definitely someone who believes that if you go for an all-white outfit, you better make sure that all of your white options are the same shade of white. But the great thing is there are so many opportunities to find your perfect white dress. There’s an Amazon white dress that you can find probably for less than 20 bucks. There are white dresses all the way at Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue, and the list goes on and on and on.
I love that there are so many affordable white dresses out there, so you don’t have to break the bank to look cute and be on-trend, but really it’s all about searching and looking to find your best options. Lastly, I love a white dress because a white casual dress can be worn any time of the year. There are fall white dresses, and there are winter white dresses. Then, of course, we know summer white dresses and spring white dresses, but really there are so many options. You have white dresses with sleeves or that are cut as a crop top. The wonderful thing is a white dress is never going to go out of style.
It is definitely something that I would consider spending a little bit of money on if you want to keep it in your wardrobe for a very long time. However, there are so many affordable white dresses out on the market that you do not have to go broke.
So what are some things that you should take into consideration when looking for a white dress? Here are a few tips below:
First, think about the time of year you want to wear the dress.
If you’re going to wear your white dress in the spring or summer, looking for a dress with breathability and material that will allow you to move and sway is very important. The last thing you want is to be in an all-white party, and everyone sees your sweat, or worse, you are completely soaked because you chose a thicker fabric. On the flip side, if you are looking for a white dress in the fall or winter, make sure the material is thick enough to wear on your own. Of course, you can always pair something like a denim jacket or a work blazer over your dress, depending on where you plan to wear it. However, it is much easier to work with a fabric that is already closer to the optimal weather than to get one outside of that season, and then you’re struggling to make it work. Trust me, I know.
Secondly, play with the color for white dresses.
As I said before, a white dress can mean different types of white. White is not just one color, but there are different variations and shades within the color category. Take some time and figure out what shade of white you want, especially if you buy your white dress online, where the retina display may distort the color. I personally want all of my white things to be the same shade if I’m wearing them together. So definitely take some time to figure out what shade of white you’re going for, and look at the notes in the product descriptions online to ensure that you’re getting the same color.
And lastly, an all-white dress doesn’t have to be boring.
Play around with different cuts and silhouettes, as well as textures. You might find a white dress that has a fringe or maybe an off-the-shoulder cut that really speaks to you and makes you want to buy. You don’t have to get what everybody else is getting.
