8 Black-Owned Skincare Brands For The Best Skin Of Your Life

As we approach the fall season, we should learn to retire the old ways and habits that have not benefited us this year so far. Mental health is something that should be a priority for everyone. That’s why maintaining and practicing self-care is so important. Having a routine will help you get your mind right and make yourself a priority because if you don’t take care of yourself, who will? Having a daily skincare routine will help you take pride in your appearance and boost your self-confidence. And who doesn’t want that?! No need to search for a list of moisturizers, serums, and oils that will change your skin for life. We took care of that for you!  Here are some Black-owned skincare brands that will help to boost your confidence and your skincare game!

  • Queendom Aesthetics

Price Range: $20-$175

This affordable skincare brand was founded by Melissa Odum in 2015. Hailing from New Orleans, Louisiana, the mom of four was suffering from eczema along with her children. She decided to take matters into her own hands since she couldn’t find any natural skin care brands for her family. In her kitchen, she formulated her Real Beauty Bar and never looked back. She’s since then helped thousands of people to resolve skin issues in her spa as well as online such as hyperpigmentation, acne, eczema, and much more. Her skincare brand helps entrepreneurs too! Melissa also has a soap-making course to assist others with getting the bag!

  • My True Glo

Price Range: $12.99-$30

The “tell it like it is” type of esthetician, Annastazia Unce was tired of the Black community being told that all-natural skincare products were the end all be all. She takes pride in the fact that her skincare products are backed up by science. With the blend of natural and chemical compounds, this skincare brand guarantees results within 30 days. I’d definitely believe Annastazia’s blog with her being a cosmetic chemist and all. If you have a specific skincare issue such as hyperpigmentation, then try her Dark Spot Serum. Or if you’re not sure what you need, you can find out which products are right for you by taking this easy skincare quiz.

  • Epara

Price Range: $49-$168

This luxury skincare brand is what you’ve been missing in your life, I promise! The purpose of the brand is to create products of a very high standard that “perfectly fits the profile of the Barneys New York customer” according to founder Ozoho Adoh. My experience with this brand had me feeling “cocooned” in moisture after using the Hydrating Serum, just as the tagline suggests. Derived from original and natural products from Africa, this skincare brand is specifically made for BIPOC consumers. Also, don’t forget to follow their blog for valuable skin solutions.

  • Skinbuttr

Price Range: $10-$120

This skincare brand was founded by model Tatiana Elizabeth to encourage confidence within her community. These luxurious body- butters and scrubs will have your skin feeling silky soft and smelling amazing! The brand also offers face masks, toners, moisturizers, and more. Another thing to love is that they use as minimal packaging as possible. So you’re basically saving the planet and your skin!

  • Shop Kaike

Price Range: $5-$75

This sweet treat for your skin was made to immerse you in the delicious aroma of marshmallow, chocolate, and other fragrant scents while nourishing your skin with yummy oils. That was founder Keli Smith’s idea when she came up with her skincare brand in 2015. The brightly branded company has also been featured in Elle, Beauty Independent, and was named one of Allure’s Best of Beauty Award Winners in 2020 for this amazing Lip Frosting. This company makes it a #pieceofkaike to enjoy a product that smells and does amazing things for your skin.

  • Liha Beauty

Price Range: $22-$136

This is one of the most aesthetically pleasing brands I’ve seen in a while. The packaging exudes chic and feminine energy. This skincare line not only pampers your complexion but also your roots as a member of the
Black community. The two college besties Abi Oyepitan and Lina Okunniwa birthed this skincare brand as a way to honor their African roots. The combination of the Yoruba (Nigerian) way of creating lotions, oils, and soaps from Lina’s background and the pure West African ingredients Abi would bring back from her father’s West African town upgraded the quality standard for the natural skincare line. As the buzz around the brand grew, so did the product choices. The skincare brand started with lavish oilsshea- butters, and soaps, but has now expanded into candles and fragrances as well. No wonder Vogue, Elle, Refinery 29, and others have them on their radar!

  • Buttah Beauty

Price Range:$6-$25

I’ve already covered this amazing brand before, but I had to do it again! Lasha Yarde established this brand after refusing to let her dreams parish after the sudden death of her boyfriend to gun violence. She was determined to create a legacy that she could be proud of while still existing on this Earth. Through her community of #GlowGetters, she has helped others discover the greatness that lies within us and in the community. She reminds us that when Black people support other Black people, whether it’s big or small, we easily become a force to reckon with.” That’s so true! Plus, it’s kind of easy to support her hydrating moisturizers and soaps. And we can’t forget her line just for men!

  • Humanrace

Price Range: $32-$100

We can’t complete this list without mentioning one of our faves! Pharrell Williams finally blessed us with the skincare line we’ve been waiting on. Now, we finally get a chance to experience a glimpse of what it feels like to have such great skin that people think you’re a time traveler (Lol). We’ve discussed this skincare brand before, but let us refresh your memory. Being the rebel that he is, Pharrell decided not to go the traditional route of using an established company and slapping his namesake on the product. He partnered with his current dermatologist, Dr. Elena Jones, MD to create this incredible skincare brand. What’s crazy to me is how the full Routine Pack is only $100! Not to mention it’s one of the most sustainable skincare brands I’ve seen in a while since all of the products are refillable.
