Y’all already knew this post was coming.
As many of you know, Christopher John Rogers — a Baton Rouge, Louisiana native who is probably one of the most talked-about designers out right now — collaborated with Target on a limited-edition fashion line. There were many reasons why people (myself included) wanted to get their hands on this collection. First of all, Christopher John Rogers is a more luxurious fashion brand, which often means that it’s not accessible to the everyday person. Trust me, I’ve had my eye on CJR for years (y’all remember when I went to the CJR fashion show and met Saweetie?).

Anywho, the biggest enticement for this collection was the price point. Nothing was more than $60, which means this collection is very affordable and accessible for people. I really appreciated that most clothes also came up to a size 4X, which is something you don’t tend to see in luxury. Honestly, it’s a huge problem that exists in the fashion industry, and I wish we could normalize plus-size options without it having to go to a mainstream shopping platform. Don’t get me wrong — kudos to Target for extending their sizes. I’m just saying I would like it to be the norm and not the exception.
But nonetheless, let’s get into the dresses I bought. They’re down below and if you shop through my link I may earn a little commission. But I want to stress a few things: 1) I bought these with my own money, and 2) I’m sharing my unfiltered thoughts. So shop up!

By far, my favorite dress is the orange and yellow taffeta dresses. I immediately knew I had to have it because I was attracted to the neoprene material that comes off iridescent. It’s a dress that is not for the faint of heart, but rather it’s a showstopper that really requires a good eye and sense of styling. Like the other dresses, it goes up to a size 4X, although many of the plus-sizes were out of stock by the time I got to shopping. I’m not mad at it!
For me, I paired it with some wrap-around gold heels. Specific ones I have on I couldn’t find them anywhere, but here are some alternatives at various price points:
Gold heels you can pair it with:
I did not originally intend to buy the dress in both colors, but I had wanted the orange one and at the time I was shopping it was out of stock. I purchased the yellow and then the orange came back in stock! So that’s how I ended up with the dress times two…But do I plan on returning either? Absolutely not.
With the blue dress, I wanted something that is much more chill and that I could pack in a quick getaway while on travel. It wasn’t something that was planned and honestly, the dress had to grow on me. The taffeta dresses came in letter sizing, which felt easier for me to decide on than the actual numbers.
A size 12 in one collaboration can be different than a size 12 elsewhere, so for the blue dress I got a size 14 because I didn’t know how it would fit around my stomach area. Remember, if something doesn’t fully fit you you can always get things extended or sized down at the tailor.
Overall, this collection is a great investment and definitely one for the books! I loved all my pieces and the only real thing I think that’s worth pointing out is making sure you look for your right size.
So, what did you guys get? Let me know!
