3 Fall Beauty Additions To Try Right Now for A Refresh

With the weather changing and fall right around the corner, many things also change within my beauty arsenal. During this spring and summer, I usually opt for a more natural and dewy complexion. And this summer, being inside and not having to get dressed up aside from speaking events or when I hop on zoom meetings, I didn’t do a lot when it came to the makeup department. Thus I focus a lot on skincare. While that isn’t changing a lot, there are more events that I will be attending in real-time during the fall. And because of the change in weather, my skin naturally needs more hydrating and moisturizing ingredients.

So there are some things that I plan to pack up and will bring back out for a while. But some things are tried and true, and I depend on them as a beauty editor and journalist. So if you are doing a bit of fall cleaning in your beauty bag, here are some of the fall beauty essentials I absolutely swear by.

A hydrating moisturizer will be your best friend.

Even though there are literally hundreds if not 1000s of different moisturizers out on the market. There are more than enough options to help you with your personal skin care needs. Now if you’ve been following me for a long time or reading my content on other platforms, you know that I absolutely swear by instead of a traditional moisturizer. The reason why is because even if you have oily skin, face oil is actually going to en you do not overproduce oil and that your skin is actually getting hydrated deep down past the surface level.

I swear by face oils during the day and at night. And personally, I really enjoy these over moisturizers although I can definitely say that having a good and strong moisturizer will do the trick. There are a few moisturizers that I swear by. But really to me, it’s not as much about the brand name as much as the ingredients. If you are looking for a moisturizer that brightens dark spots, and maybe hyperpigmentation, you will want to opt for something with perhaps a vitamin C ingredient in there.

Additionally, looking for things that have hyaluronic acid in them will help with hydration, which is excellent if you naturally have dry or dry or skin. What I will say is skin naturally tends to suffer a little bit during this time of year, especially if you also have allergies and now because of the changing with the leaves and the weather. Your skin just naturally dries because of allergy medication. But no matter what type of skin you have. Having a good moisturizer is the first step for me in my fall beauty routine.

Get an under-eye cream in the mix.

Similar to a moisturizer, I have also become a massive fan of under-eye creams. At first, I thought it was a complete hoax and just something that beauty professionals told people they needed to try to upsell a product that they really didn’t need. But, I sat with it more, I realized that our eyes really are the first signs of wear and tear on the body. If you drink too much caffeine and not enough water, you’ll see it in your eyes. If you stayed up all night and watched your favorite Netflix series and did not get enough sleep, you will see it in your eyes. Honestly, I think that is why so many people are opting for cosmetic surgeries in and around the eye area because they want to appear youthful and just reinvigorated. Now even though I have had a little bit of work done which I share because I want to be as forthcoming as possible. I still tend to get dryness under my eyes and naturally want to keep that area moisturized. So under eye creams are actually specifically formulated for that area which is usually thinner on the skin than on other parts of your face.

So even though you might use a moisturizer all over your face, you want to use something specifically for the under-eye area for that specific region. There are quite a few under-eye creams that I absolutely love and swear by but honestly, it comes down to what you specifically want. I like products that have caffeine in them for a more bright and awakened look. But I also have really enjoyed under-eye creams that have ingredients like avocado that are super rich and hydrating and carry moisture or things that help tighten the under eyes so that it appears like I got a lot more sleep than I really did. As someone who is constantly doing something on video and camera, I don’t want to look like I just rolled out of bed and got three hours of sleep. Even when that is absolutely the truth. So under eye cream is beneficial to me and definitely worth the cost.

A strong lipstick is something that I will preach all year round.

But I especially love this time of year when you are usually ditching your bright corals and bold lips and going for more muted tones or deep berries. As someone who loves a smoky purple lipstick or even a chocolatey brown matte. I really love the fall lip colors and specifically how you can add so much drama to the face simply with lipstick. As you guys know there are different lip products out on the market. So it’s easy for you to decide what you want based upon your personal needs. Maybe you want to go for just a lip tint if you want just a hint of color but not too much. Or you might end up going with a lipstick in case you might go for a gloss if you want a more shine appeal or maybe a semi-matte or you might be like me and just go for a full-on matte lip. And then lastly there are liquid lipsticks that go down wet and then dry down to usually a matte finish. I particularly like these the best because of the applicator brush and how they can get in different crevices of your lips. But also usually for the long-wearing formulation that they are made in it if you are also opting to not wear a lot of makeup these days, you might find that something as simple as adding a lipstick is enough to naturally feel a little bit more awakened and also to look a little bit more put together. As you’re hopping into zoom meetings, whether it’s for work or personal, you do still want to kind of look like you tried. But the good thing is you don’t have to do too much to pull that off.

Last but certainly not least, I am incorporating more hair masks into the mix.

I am a blonde and I am very aware of the damage that bleach and dye do to my strands in order to retain hair health and to really make sure that I am taking care of my hair and the best way that I possibly can. I love to use hair masks and deep conditioners to help restore that moisture. If you have been following me you know that I swear by Olaplex specifically for its formulation and how it treats my bleached blonde tresses. If you don’t necessarily want to spend that type of money or get your hands on the brand, what I will say is that it is important for you to think about what specifically your hair needs and finding a good pair mask to accomplish that.

The great thing is you can throw your hair in a shower cap with your hair mask and go on about your Saturday or whenever you do it and rinse it out or maybe even keep the mask in overnight for extra hydration. Especially if you have textured or coily hair, you really want to make sure that you are treating your hair at the root and on the molecular level because the change in dryness in the air can actually have adverse effects on your hair. So take care of your hair and make sure that you are wrapping it up at night.

So those are my three fall beauty essentials that I will be switching out and changing around ever so slightly to accommodate the changing weather. Obviously, these are not just seasonal, but things that you can do all year round. But these are the things that I specifically like to turn to slack to change just a little bit. When it is time to hop into the fall. What are some of your favorite tips and some of the things you are taking out from spring and summer and adding into your fall beauty routine?
