GLAMSQUAD and Thankful Hosted An Empowerment Event With Gigi Gorgeous, Cara Santana and More

If there’s one thing I am extremely passionate about, it’s community service. There are so many opportunities (and there is such a need) for us to serve our communities and our next generation of young leaders, that I oftentimes love to spotlight brands, organizations, and people, making a difference. Well, on Tuesday, March 12, Thankful and GLAMSQUAD hosted an empowering day for 75 teenage girls, providing them with workshops, panels and fireside conversations at Luminary, a female-focused working space. How amazing is that?!

For the day, the panels and fireside chat were led by female CEOs, founders, activists and entrepreneurs, only proving to our next generation that we really are ALL THAT, right? For the day, we spotted transgender activist/ YouTube star, Gigi Gorgeous; actress and activist, Cara Santana; singer, Rebecca Black; and entrepreneur, Amber Ridinger. Also showing up for the special event was Alyssa Rallo Bennett, producer and director of Stone Street Studios, Kim McDonnell, Founder/ CEO of Thankful, Amy Schecter, CEO of Glamsquad, Cate Luzio, Founder of The Luminary, Kourtney Olsen, Founder of Grrrl.com, and Dr. Sandra Lewis, a psychologist and personal energy strategist. WHEW!

Prior to the panels, GLAMSQUAD provided the girls with hair and makeup, so of course they could get glitz-ified and glam. Not only were the conversations filled with self-love and female empowerment, but the girls also got to discuss mentorship opportunities, which we all know is extremely important for the growth of women everywhere.

So what exactly is Thankful? According to its site, Thankful is “based on the science-backed principle that practicing gratitude increases overall individual happiness and can improve mental health and wellness,” and wow, can I relate.Thankful donates a percentage of revenue to its non=profit arm, the Thankful Foundation, who then distributes funds to other non-profits who have the expertise, programming, and infrastructure in place to make measurable social impact.Throughout the year, Thankful generates social good campaigns centered around global challenges. These multifaceted campaigns, with the addition of a products-that-give-back component due to Thankful’s licensing program creates real and lasting social impact.

Of course, moments like this are only impactful when you really take a second and realize the magic touch you’re leaving on a young person, forever. “It’s important for our Luminary community to support young girls – they are the next generation of female leaders,” said Luzio. “This Thankful event emphasizes the power of partnership, community and supporting women of all ages. As someone who had mentors my entire career, we need to ensure that all girls have mentors that inspire them and give them guidance as they embark on their futures!” I couldn’t agree more.

Glamsquad Thankful

“Thankful is committed to supporting women and girls,” McDonnell told TheBlondeMisfit. “Through our #Thankful4Women campaign we are generating conversations, recognizing extraordinary women and shining a light on the challenges faced by women and girls across the globe. We value and appreciate our partnership with GLAMSQUAD, an organization committed and passionate about supporting, empowering and uplifting women.”

Shector and the GlamSquad team held similar feelings. “We have aligned with Thankful because at GLAMSQUAD, we can make an impact on how women and girls feel,” she told TheBlondeMisfit, “instilling in them a unique sense of confidence through their experiences with our beauty pros.” Amen!
