Born and raised in Queens, New York, LaQuan Smith’s is making a great wave in the fashion industry. Over 70% of his fall 2020 show at the New Your Fashion week was clad in body-conscious dresses and other in exaggerated superhuman silhouettes. LaQuan Smith 2020 is a vibe, that’s for sure.
Every model was welcomed to the runway with a cacophony of cheers bringing out the excitement always with his black and white collection. You guys already know that I love and stan for Black designers, and with clients like Beyoncé and Kim Kardashian on his roster, LaQuan is obviously doing something VERY right.
With Elsa Hosk and Hilary Rhoda wearing the last two new looks bringing her own sense of bravado to the scene in the New York Show. Two sheer catsuits, possibly the most revealing unitards to ever grace a runway, elicited hoots from the audience. These aren’t clothes for everyone, that’s for sure. But LaQuan doesn’t want to be for everyone.
With his new collaboration with Jordache, we can’t wait to see a new demographic of women to try his clothes out.
