#NYFW Day Two: Kate Spade

Day two of NYFW has kicked off and it’s all in or nothing! Kate Spade had their spring/summer ’20 collection as the sun finally started to rear its head. The collection played on everything the iconic brand has built its name for: Flowing silhouettes; accentuated accessories; and loosely-structured neutrals and pastels. Set in the Elizabeth Street Garden, superstars graced the runway in a way that felt familial to the brand as a whole.

The diversity was beautifully flourishing, though that’s become expected for a brand that really targets inclusivity throughout its brand’s DNA. There was Grace Elizabeth, Indira Scott, and Karen Elson, someone who is cited as one of Kate Spade’s favorite influencers. Kimberly Drew, Debi Mazar and her daughter Evelina also made appearances down the runway.

A look through the collection will immediately have any fashion lover who loves practicality rejoicing. The clothes don’t require much to sell to the consumer — they look comfortable, immediately accessible, relatable, and designed to accompany various pieces that may already exist in one’s wardrobe. The theme was inspired by a “city safari,” which was immediately apparent through the greens, khakis, and floral references.

For shoes, heels were tossed to the side in lieu of flats, sandals, and sneakers. As fashion continues to evolve, the brand intentionally joined its crowds in the latest sneaker trends while still remaining relevant and loyal to its style roots.
