I don’t know about you guys, but I have been shopping while quarantined and my house. Honestly, I wish I wasn’t spending as much money but also there is very little else to do. A clothing haul is a hill that I will gladly die on because it is rough out here. And with my newfound freedom and my sad memorization of my credit card information, I have been scouring the internet and finding all of the latest deals, fashion and beauty shopping from everywhere from TheRealReal to H&M, to Target and more.
Even though my site, my podcast, and all of the projects TBM works on are centered around fashion and beauty, we can’t negate that it has been a very stressful time for Black America, for Black content creators, Black influencers, Black people in leadership, and just Black people in general.
There is so much happening in the world and it can often feel very heavy, that in a way, we are all self-medicating. It would be different if these acts of injustice were happening and we were safe to be outside, but so many people are fearlessly leading the charge in protests and in social change by standing outside while we are literally in a global pandemic.
But even I have found myself needing to relax and renew and rejuvenate and for me that often comes in the form of shopping and self-expression as a plus-size, fashion and beauty editor and personality. My whole life is about resistance. And it’s very important to me that I continuously fill my cup back up so that I’m good to others. And I think a clothing haul fills up my cup.
A Clothing Haul
Some people may not see fashion as political in that way, but it is very much so. And even when you strip it of its politics, fashion still has the power to make you just feel good. And I think that we need a lot more things nowadays that just make us feel good. That being said, I wanted to share with you guys a few of my recent purchases in a clothing haul.
When I say recent, I really mean everything I bought probably from late February on. But I wanted to still show you guys some of the things that I have recently purchased. You’ll find some ASOS, some Burberry and, of course, an enviable shoe collection of Malone Souliers and Balenciaga.
