Rihanna is the Queen of Crop Over. At the annual Kadooment Day parade, Rih always uses the opportunity to step outside the box and sport something new from costume designer Lauren Austin. Of course, we don’t even need to discuss how much I love Rihanna and how she fearlessly leads the charge in wearing whatever she wants. Whether it’s Fenty Beauty or even her namesake in fashion, we know that Rihanna always shows up in the best way. Remember that she didn’t come the year before, leaving us to wonder what to do with our lives after she snatched us up back in 2017:
This year, Rihanna skewed from her previous ensembles of sequins and embellishments to something razzled in full feathers. Her pink mini dress was custom made by Dutch designer, David LaPort.
Instead of her normal cascading curls, Rihanna instead opted for some chic Bantu knots, and her makeup artist Priscilla Ono gave us a swatch of lime eyeshadow. Her flourish of feathers and bright pink was complemented by a pair of crystal-covered eyeglasses and pastel heels by Midnight00.
One of her statement looks came with her Gucci shades which were an ivy-green hue with rhinestones around. Her makeup (Fenty, perhaps?) matched with a neon green shadow and rhinestone-encrusted cat eye. Admittedly Rihanna was more dressed than usual this year, but I can’t deny that this may be one of my favorite looks. If you want to make a statement, you have to do something a bit unconventional, no?
