How They Achieved Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty NYFW 2019 Beauty Looks

By now, I know you’ve seen the Savage x Fenty show that aired on Amazon Prime Video, right? If you haven’t seen it yet, I’m not sure what’s going on. Rihanna not only set the standard for fashion everywhere by challenging brands to continue to push the boundaries of inclusivity on and off its runways, but she even redefined what a fashion show is supposed to look and feel like.

When it came to the makeup, Fenty Beauty’s global makeup artists Priscilla Ono and Hector Espinal wanted to make sure that all five of the model looks for the show were different and unique. “Each look exudes bold, sexy glam with an irreverent edge,” they told TheBlondeMisfit. “No two exactly the same, the looks are empowering and confidence-provoking as a celebration of diversity and individuality. All of the looks were designed to match the essence of each performance and the landscape of the show.”

For each of the looks, artists began priming the skin with one of Fenty Beauty’s three primers Pro Filt’r Mattifying Primer, Instant Retouch Primer or Hydrating Primer – depending on the model’s skin type, and then created a perfected complexion with the new Pro Filt’r Hydrating Longwear Foundation, which offers longwear, buildable coverage with a natural finish that lasts, before adding various accents of color and finishes.

Now let’s get into some of these looks honey!

Ono and Espinal said, “To create an ombre lip, pick two shades in the same color family, using the darker on the perimeter and the lighter in the center of the lips. For deeper skin tones, use Stunna Lip Paint Longwear Fluid Lip Color in Unveil, a chocolate brown, as the darker shade, while lighter skin tones should opt for Uncuffed, a rosy mauve. All skin tones can then fill in the center of the lips with Unveil, a peachy nude, for a natural shade gradation.”

For this look, the artists recommend creating a graphic eye with a wash of color on the lid and then concentrating the pigment along the waterline. To achieve this look, they used Fenty’s Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter in Wattabrat and the Match Stix Shimmer Skinstick in Bordeaux Brat.

For the dancers, artists used Fenty’s Trophy Wife on the cheekbones up to the temples. They paired it with an exaggerated smokey-eye for contrast.
