Backstage: Christian Cowan’s ANIMALISTIC BEAUTY DETAILS

Christian Cowan always does an amazing show — not just the clothes, but every detail is maxed out and down to a tee. The makeup and beauty details were no exception this year. Done by MAC Cosmetics, the makeup was out of this world and probably also very animalistic. Let’s take a look, shall we?

Christian Cowan Inspiration

According to Isamaya Ffrench, the makeup was done as “something glamorous to compliment the collection.” For the face, the models skin was perfected with the MAC Studio Face and Body Foundation, as well as the Studio Finish Concealer to even and tone.

The eyes, however, were the true attention stealers for this look. Ffrench buffed the Kiss of Klimit Dazzleshadow Extreme (not out yet, but soon!) throughout the lid and crease. They then blended the studio fix sculpt and shape contour palette throughout the crease for dimension. Of course, line the waterline and apply mascara, and you could call it a day!

Other models had the Dazzleshadow extreme in “emerald cut” and “joie de glitz” added to the lid for that ghoulish green. Artists used the 24-hour liner in Brushblack to create a graphic pulled out eyeliner, and then Swarovski crystals were added to the outer liner. Bomb!

For lips, the powder kiss liquid lip in “date maker” was added for some, and for others, the paintstick in “true chartreause.”

What do you guys think of Christian Cowan’s makeup? I think it’s literally everything and then some!

Christian Cowan Hair

For the hair, it was all about rock & roll. “Rock and roll – sexy and rough,” said Laurent Philippon, Bumble and bumble Global Fashion Director and Christian Cowan hair lead. “We were inspired by the wildness in this season’s collection. This girl is partying, but she’s precise. So we went for an inverted French twist, and roughed it up – making it a little mullet-esque.”

To achieve the look, the hair was prepped with Thickening Spray. Tease the center back of the head, then gather the hair and twist it to the left, pinning the roll (tightly) into place. Use Sumogel to grab more texture on the surface, pulling pieces gently throughout for a piecey effect. Spritz Sumo Liquid Wax+ Finishing Spray throughout for buildable separation, light hold, and natural sheen. Lock in the look with Strong FinishSpray De Mode, or Does It All.
