Show Review: Y/Project Stole My Heart In Deconstructed Numbers for Paris Fashion Week

Y/Project is still, to many, the new kid on the block. Glenn Martens has only presented a few collections since taking the helm of the brand in 2013, and unsurprisingly, has received nothing short of positive reviews. The women’s runway show comprised of 48 contrasting looks, each stealing my heart as model after model walked down the catwalk with a piece all her own. Down the runway, we spotted everything from deconstructed pants and heels, elevated metallics and neutrals, and statement-making dresses for the elevated working woman. The show closed out with a dress unlike any other — an off-the-shoulder beige dress with no shape or dimension, slightly dipping in the chest area and then effortlessly flowing everywhere else.

Y/Project

According to their site, the brand combines “conceptual and inventive detailing with playful proportions and a witty take on historical references.” Since Marten’s appointment, we’ve definitely seen more of a contemporary stance from the designer and his team. Y/Project has been termed a ‘streetwear’ brand, but I definitely think it’s offering something more to this conversation. I love the new and innovated Y/Project woman, who is constantly on the go but tackling the Parisian streets in one-of-a-kind outfits that really will make the paparazzi stop.
