Oftentimes I find that a lot of people mistake being an influencer for being a blogger. While many of us are both, the two are very separate entities. I like to say this and iron out this differentiation because people always complain about how saturated the influencer market is and how that stops them from starting a blog.

So then I’m looking at people like, how do those two things correlate?

Yes, the influencer market is very saturated. However, the bloggersphere is not, and that’s how you can stand out from others. I mean, even with a saturated influencer market I believe you should still do what you want to do. But anyway, today we’re focusing on bloggers and blogging.

To me, every brand and content creator needs a website. Not only do your customers and audience need to find you some way, but many of them will want to keep up with you in a dedicated forum outside of social media. For people like me, this is music to my ears. I love updating my blog for information instead of opting to always post on a social platform. For others, they may not see having a website as a real necessity to their business. However, I have yet to see someone have a website and complain that it doesn’t do something positive for their brand.

So, here are a few tips on starting a blog in 2022 (or any year, honestly):

Jamé JacksonPost consistently

A lot of people (and yes, I’ll join in on this one) will post one or two times and then never post again. I’m not sure what results you’re hoping to glean from minimal posting, but you HAVE to post quality content consistently in order for your audience to know what to expect from you. If you half a** your content, your results will follow suit.

Now, posting consistently doesn’t mean you have to post daily. I like to think of it as how often you’d like for people to come to your page and what that looks like as far as consistency. For me, I find that posting once a week is good enough to sustain my level of work as well as keep my audience happy. And then from my website, I always push people to check out my social platforms, which brings me to my next post…

Share consistently

This has been the hardest part of the journey for me. I am not someone who shares my content aggressively, and honestly, I’m a terrible salesman. But one thing I promised myself I would do this year is to post more consistently and show up on social media. And when you have a post, you can’t just share it one time. You need to constantly drive people back to your work. If that means posting the same piece of content on your LinkedIn 3 times, then so be it! You can schedule content out in advance using a scheduling app, or you can manually do it. I’m doing a mix of scheduling, using my VA, and programming things myself. But nonetheless, you need to share your content consistently. The world has an attention span of an ant, so you need to constantly push so you can stay on people’s radars.
